Juan Carlos Maggiorani
Venezuelan violinist Juan Carlos Maggiorani is Musical Director of the Orquestra Geração, where he has taught violin and orchestral practice since 2007.
He won first prizes at the Prémio Jovens Músicos (Lisbon), the VI Rotary Club Chamber Music Competition (Santander), and the special Mozart interpretation prize. At the Reina Sofía School of Music (Madrid), his quartet was awarded the Best String Quartet Diploma, presented by Queen Sofía of Spain.
As a founding member of MSQ, he has performed across Europe, including at the Barbican Centre (London), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Musikverein (Vienna), Philharmonie Luxembourg, Hamburg Laeiszhalle, Kölner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), BOZAR (Brussels), and Budapest Palace of Arts.
Juan began his studies in Venezuela at Colegio Emil Friedman, Simón Bolívar Conservatory, and the Latin American Violin Academy, later training at Lisbon’s National Superior Orchestra Academy. He continued at the Reina Sofía School of Music with Zakhar Bron, and at the International Institute of Chamber Music with Rainer Schmidt. He holds a Master’s degree in Performance and Teaching (Lisbon) and a Violin Specialist title from Castelo Branco Polytechnic.
As an educator, he has collaborated with international projects in Mozambique, Switzerland, the UK, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus, Peru, and across Europe, including appearances at the Lucerne Festival and SEYO youth orchestra programs.
